Confirmed Speakers:

John A. Lawrence, author of "Class of '74: Congress after Watergate and the Roots of Partisanship."  John A. Lawrence is a visiting professor at the University of California's Washington Center. He worked in the House of Representatives for 38 years, the last eight as chief of staff to Speaker and Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. Excerpt about Mr. Lawrence's book from Amazon:  "In November 1974, following the historic Watergate scandal, Americans went to the polls determined to cleanse American politics. Instead of producing the Republican majority foreshadowed by Richard Nixon’s 1972 landslide, dozens of GOP legislators were swept out of the House, replaced by 76 reforming Democratic freshmen. In The Class of '74, John A. Lawrence examines how these newly elected representatives bucked the status quo in Washington, helping to effectuate unprecedented reforms."

Dan Arant will enlighten us on the bas reliefs at the World War II Memorial.  Since 1993, Dan has served as an invaluable resource to the National Park Service, having volunteered over 6,000 hours on the National Mall.  He is deeply committed to the millions of tourists who visit the treasures on the Mall, especially the National World War II Memorial.  He makes every effort possible to ensure he knows when the Honor Flight Network will be hosting veterans in DC and seeks to be present to bring the monuments and memorials to life for our nation's veterans. Through his vast knowledge of the history of World War II, Dan inspires a profound connection between the veteran visitors and the World War II Memorial. Dan, a Vietnam Veteran, is the recipient of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund Libby Hatch Award, two U.S. National Mall and Memorial Parks Volunteer of the Year Awards, and the Department of the Interior Take Pride In America National Outstanding Individual Volunteer Award.
