Out-of-Town Guides, take advantage of this opportunity to increase your knowledge of Washington, DC motor coach rules and regulations and routes to major tourist attractions and earn a Continuing Education Unit (CEU).

Washington, DC motor coach rules and regulations, street patterns, security restrictions, and traffic are a challenge. Acknowledged, navigating these challenges are the motor coach operator’s responsibility, but to keep your group happy, you, as tour guide, may need to assist.

Even if your motor coach operator has a GPS application specifically programed for motor coach navigation, GPS cannot be relied on to get your group to major tourist attractions in Washington. And, particularly in the busy spring season, motor coach operators are sent on Washington, DC tours who have little knowledge of the city. The purpose of this training activity is to provide you with the knowledge to assist your motor coach operator as needed (very diplomatically, of course).

Register for this training activity.  Then request a copy of: a 20-question test about Washington, DC motor coach rules and regulations and routes to major tourist attractions. In addition, request a copy of the routing guide developed by Guild member, Heidi Watson.  Both of these can be requested from Tammy Belden (  Consult Heidi Watson’s Guide, the DC Department of Transportation Motor Coach Operators Guide, other on-line resources, and your own knowledge of the city to answer the questions on the test. Answer the questions correctly and earn one CEU.

Registration closes Friday, February 2, 2018, and your completed test must be submitted to Heidi Watson by Friday, February 28, 2018, to earn the CEU.
