Book Group meeting to discuss The Politics of Mourning, Death and Honor in Arlington National Cemetery, by Micki McElya (2016).

The Politics of Mourning ..."is an elegantly written and fascinating study ...delves deeply into the complex story of Arlington's evolution from antebellum plantation to hollowed ground and explores how this complicated past continues to shape its current status as Our Nation's Most Sacred Shrine." (Suzanne E. Smith, George Mason University.)

As a result of voting by book group participants at the end of last year we will be reading and discussing two additional titles in 2018; Washington Goes To War,by David Brinkley (1988) in September; and America's First Daughter: A Novel, by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie (2016) in late November or early December.

The book group in open to all Guild members and is a great way to learn, get to know your peers, have fun, improve skills, and earn participation points. As usual, we ask that if you intend to read the book and attend the meeting please register on the Guild website.

Please direct any question you may have to Co-Chairs John Days, or Corky Rainey,
