The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) is the small but important federal agency tasked with maintaining US military memorials and cemeteries overseas, including the American cemetery in Normandy, France.  We will be briefed on the history and operation of the ABMC, as well as the major role they played in the development and creation of the World War ll Memorial and the Korean War Memorial.  Some of the  often asked questions which will be answered include:  "Why  were the 'Kilroy was Here' bas reliefs added to the World War II Memorial?" and "Why do the bases of the two flag poles at the World War II Memorial contain the Merchant Marines logo?"

Eligible to register:  Certified Master Guides and Certified Master Guide Candidates.
