Ivy Hill Cemetery walking tour sponsored by CMG TGCF (Tour Guide Cabin Fever) tours, open to ALL members. Ivy Hill Cemetery is a stunning 22+ acres of beautifully-kept burial grounds among hills, woodlands, and a natural stream that hosts many species of wildlife especially birds, in particular, the barred owl whose call “who cooks for you?” we’ll undoubtedly hear! Ivy Hill is an active cemetery, as well as a historic destination for visitors from all over the world.

It has been associated with Alexandria’s history since 1856. Many families who shaped the town’s destiny in the 19th century are buried here…famous, infamous, and ordinary citizens. As we tour the grounds with curator and director Lucy Godden, you will recognize names reflected throughout the city on buildings, streets, and names of  businesses. Among a few notables interredWernher von Braun, aerospace engineer and space flight pioneer; Washington familydescendants; Bryan Fairfax, 8th Lord Fairfax of Cameron.


NOTE:  Registration is limited to 15   We will have a waiting list for each date.  If you register and find you are unable to attend, it is extremely important that you notify Tammy Belden so that we can offer the place to the next person on the wiating list.

Participants must wear masks and be socially distanced.
