Description of Course:

Tour Guide Training Programs based in Washington, DC.  Maricar Donato is certified as an international guide trainer by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations.

"The Professional Tour Guide Training Program on How to Become a Washington DC Tour Guide - Intensive Track"

This course includes world renowned best practices on introductory guiding skills and techniques while conducting tours on foot, on-site, on a moving vehicle, in sacred spaces, art galleries and museums.  It will demonstrate the core pillars of Research, Developing Commentary, Presentation Skills  and Feedback. 

It emphasizes the 2-day Communications Skills Seminar to enable one to become effective speakers and to identify guiding styles.The program also includes the added feature of understanding the multilingual/multicultural dimensions of the city.  The Business Skills of Guiding is held at the conclusion of the course.

This course runs 8 weeks (100 hours).   A DC Study Guide can be obtained and themed discussion groups are formed outside of training hours.  Information Sessions are held monthly and classes are held through the year.

Our eight week intensive training program, which begins in early January, is primarily intended for those who have no prior experience as a tour guide. You will obtain factual information by visiting over 50 sites either by metro, walking, or bus. Our trainers have extensive experience in the industry and have worked with groups of many sizes and diverse cultures and backgrounds. Our classes discuss presentation techniques, tour management, tour routing, and DC licensing requirements.


Our company has been in existence for over 40 years and is the oldest and largest tour company in the Washington, DC area.  We are widely recognized by those in tourism as providing the most comprehensive training in the industry.
